Thank you sooo much for all of this information! I have tried a couple projects and ended up very frustrated, but I am anxious to try again now that I have looked through this because I see several things that I was doing wrong. You have done a wonderful job of explaining everything!!

Hi Faye,

I’m glad this has been helpful so far! In general, to learn more about amigurumi I would suggest just trying new amigurumi patterns with new elements, so that you can slowly learn more techniques over time. A few interesting ones on my site are my starfish pattern and Carmen doll.

For skills that edge into crochet design, I would check out these blog posts: https://littleworldofwhimsy.com/amigurumi-shapes/, https://littleworldofwhimsy.com/6-easy-tricks-to-make-amigurumi-cuter/, and https://littleworldofwhimsy.com/my-foolproof-guide-to-resizing-amigurumi-no-math-required/.

Hope this helps!

However I have made at least 15 stuffed variations from patterns, making some awful errors and yet I still yearn to become frustrated and gain more knowledge. Your site was really interesting and my question would be how do I become more proficient from the beginners level?
